What To Do

Swim inside caves and discover rare marine life
If you can scuba dive, Ball’s Pyramid, an uninhabited island southeast of Lord Howe Island, is a must. It’s home to the tallest sea stack and rare species of marine life like Spanish dancers, Galapagos whalers and Ballina angelfish. The Observatory Rock Sanctuary Zone is one of the only known places to spot the Ballina angelfish. If you aren’t a diver, you can always explore the lagoon in a glass-bottomed boat.

Barbeque on the white-sand beaches of Lord Howe Island
Lord Howe islanders love a good barbeque, and the good folks at Capella Lodge will set up a barbeque for you on one of the beautiful beaches or sheltered coves on the island. Take your pick between the floury sands of Neds Beach or the crystal-clear shores of Old Settlement Beach and Cobby’s Corner.
